    Ronald McDonald House

    is a special place within Benioff Children’s Hospital where families can relax and recharge while still being close to their child. Ronald McDonald House offers a welcoming environment including a comfortable great room where families can gather to visit, watch television or play with non-patient children. Free wi-fi and a quiet room is available for private conversations and phone calls.

    DP-Showers

    During hours of operation, Ronald McDonald House has private shower facilities and washers and dryers available free of charge. Personal hygiene items, clean towels, and laundry soap are provided free of charge thanks to the generous donations of community members.

    DP-Meals

    Grab-and-go snacks and a microwave are available for use throughout the day. In addition, community and corporate volunteer groups come to the House nearly every day to cook and serve a meal. To find out if there is a meal scheduled on a particular day, contact the Guest Services Associate on duty at 415.502.9868.

    DP-Safety

    UCSF parent badges will allow you to access the security gate that leads to the House. All Ronald McDonald House daytime and overnight visitors must show a valid, government issued ID (may be issued outside the U.S.); submit to a background check, and be free of contagious diseases including flu and cold symptoms.

    DP-Overnight

    Ronald McDonald House has 11 bedrooms that are assigned to eligible families in need of lodging.  To make lodging request, contact the social work department’s Family Resource Coordinators at 415.353.2016. 

    How to Find Us

    From Children’s Hospital lobby: Enter the front doors and look for the security information desk on the left. Use your parent badge to open the glass “security gate” by placing your badge on the reader. Continue straight after successfully passing through the security gate and look for the San Francisco Ronald McDonald House sign. Walk through the door and follow the signs down a long hall. Look for the door to the House on the right side. The front door is has a floral pattern etched in glass. Ring the doorbell for assistance.

     

    From patient floors: Take the children’s elevator to the first floor. Do not exit through the security gate. Look for the door marked “San Francisco Ronald McDonald House” on the left hand side. Walk through the door then follow the signs down a long hall. Look for the door to the House on the right side. The front door is has a floral pattern etched in glass. Ring the doorbell for assistance.
