    Referrals & Admission

Requests for rooms at the Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco are made through the Department of Social Work at the hospital where the patient is receiving treatment. Due to the large number of referrals, we prioritize based on level of care, projected length of stay and distance from San Francisco. Unfortunately, a request does not guarantee availability of rooms.

The following requirements must be met to stay at the Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco:

    Returning Families

Returning families may call to verify availability and put their names on the waiting list. Confirmation with the Department of Social Work at the hospital where the patient is receiving treatment will still be necessary. Priority for available rooms will go to first-time families.

    Check In

Your check in time must be confirmed with the Ronald McDonald House. Failure to arrive or inform staff that you will be late may result in another family being placed in the House.

Indoor and outdoor play spaces are available for our young guests.  Parents are required to be responsible for their own children and provide supervision at all times. Children under 18 may not be left unattended. Parents are also asked to clean up after their children in the playroom, dining room and common areas. The House does not provide baby-sitting services.

    Family Chores

Families are asked to assist with small household chores around the House. All guests are responsible for keeping their rooms tidy and washing their own linens as needed during their stay.

For security, the House doors are locked at all times and guests are given keys. Please note: we cannot be responsible for any accidents, thefts, or losses incurred by guests while staying at the House.

Smoking is not allowed in the House and is restricted to designated areas.  Pets, firearms, alcohol and illegal drugs are not permitted on RMH-SF property.
